Drawings, paintings illuminated or decorated with gold, silver or metallic colours are called illumination. Usually rich colours are used for illuminating purposes. Illuminated pages in manuscripts were specialities of manuscripts produced during middle Ages. Apart from illuminated texts and borders there will also be mini figures or pictures which are illuminated with colours. Often these artworks are found among Islamic and Arabic arts.
