Kauffmann refers to ceramic wares depicting Angelica Kauffmann (1741-1807), a Swiss-born painter. She worked as a decorative artist from 1766 to 1781 for Adam Brothers, English furniture manufacturers. Kauffmann was a child prodigy. She was hired to a piece before she turned 13 years of age. 
Kauffmann refers to porcelain wares decorated with scenes based on the works of Maria Anne Angelica Catharine (1741-1807), a Swiss-born painter who was a decorative artist for Adam Brothers, English furniture manufacturers, between 1766 and 1781. Kauffmann was a child prodigy who made her first commissioned piece before 13. She designed small-scale pictorial subjects in the neoclassic manner and painted portraits as well as historical and classical pictures that were later reproduced on chinaware made across Europe. Most porcelain signed Kauffmann was made in the late 1800s. She did not do the artwork on the porcelain pieces signed with her name.
