Nishiki-e is the name of a Japanese art of woodblock printing. The literal meaning of the word is “brocade picture.” The art was invented in 1760. Suzuki Harunobu is the print maker who popularized and perfected this art. Several nishiki-e prints were produced during the period till 1765.
