Nitrogen is a colorless gaseous element that comprises about ¾ the volume of the atmospheric air. It can be seen as combined forms in animal and vegetable tissues, particularly in proteins. Nitrogen is used mainly in the making of ammonia, fertilizer, dyes, as a cooling agent.
