Pastel Definition
The term Pastel refers to paints made by pigments being mixed with gum and water, and pressed in to the form of a dried stick for use as crayons. The term also refers to works of art done with such pigments. A picture created with pastels may be referred to as either a drawing or a painting depending on whether the resultant image is more linear or more painterly. The term is also used to refer to certain tints or pale or soft colors.
