Pastose means a technique of painting thickly. The term impasto is an adjective for the word impasto. It is method in which paint is applied thickly on a canvas in such a way that the brush strokes are visible. This makes the painting appear rich which brings a feel that the paint is about to be fallen out form the canvas. Paints like oil paint and acrylic paint is used for such kind of paintings due to its thickness, gel effect and slow drying.
