Pate De Verre Definition
Pate de verre is a technique of producing glass s by blending and making molds of different colours with powdered glass. This is a very ancient method of producing glass articles and was first used 3600 years ago by Egyptians. In the 19th century the process was reinvented by the glassmakers of France. In this technique, glass is crushed to fine powder and is mixed with gum, colour, enamel and water to form a paste which is put in a mould in surface level like a coating so that it when fired gives a hollow material which has thin or thick layers.
