Picturesque Definition
The word picturesque literally means something which can be made as a picture or something which has the quality of a picture. This word is derived from the Italian term pittoresco which means in the manner of a painter. Picturesque appeared in 17th century and the usage of the word thrived during 18th century. A scenery or a scene which appears extremely apt for illustrating it as a picture is called a picturesque. It is linked close to aesthetic and artistic imaginations and thoughts of artists that gained its popularity during 18th century. Such arts were the derivation of cultivated nostalgic emotions and uneven designs.
