Sublime Definition
The term Sublime means lofty, or greatness in which can be moral, spiritual or physical. In the context of art the term Sublime refers to the landscapes and seascapes paintings of 18th and 19th centuries. Satan, Sin and Death (A Scene from Milton's 'Paradise Lost')(c.1735–40) by William Hogarth and An Avalanche in the Alps(1803) by Philip James De Loutherbourg are examples of sublime art.
