Van Briggle Definition

Van Briggle is a term that is generally used to refer topotteries that was produced by Artus and Anne Van Briggle in Colorado in 1901. The products of Van Briggle pottery had a soft or dull glaze. Artus was successful in bringing a major impact on the Art Nouveau movement in the United States. It is one of the oldest art pottery company that is operating till date. However, the company was restricted a number of times. In 1910, Van Briggle was restructured and renamed as the Van Briggle Pottery and Tile Company. In 1931, the Company was renamed as Van Briggle Art Pottery Company. Van Briggle pieces that were produced before 1910 include a “AA” mark on their bottom. Van Briggle used molds to make potteries. Therefore, the classic and traditional designs are easily produced even today.
