Bisque Definition

Bisque porcelain is unglazed, baked ceramic. The difference between glazed and unglazed porcelain is notable, the latter producing a grainier texture without the shine of its glazed counterpart. Bisque figurines became quite popular during the 19th century and are still produced today. The figurines are also a popular item for artists, as bisque is significantly easier to paint than glazed, glossy ceramic.
