Bloomers Definition
Bloomer is a costume that was designed for women around mid 19th century. This garment is named after Amelia Jenks Bloomer. It is a loose pant style garment that is gathered at the ankle with a button closure. This garment was a comfortable dress that was best suited to satisfy Ameila’s bicycling passion. Some wear this under a skirt. Laced and knee length bloomers were also seen. The term is also used to refer to the underpants that women use. Antique bloomers are available in the antique market.
