Cartography Definition

According to the International Cartographic Association, "cartography is the art, science and technology of making maps, together with their study as scientific documents and works of art." The first noticeable map was created around 300 AD. During the medieval period, the maps included curious beasts and monsters to decorate the maps, and the focus was on decorating maps rather than providing accurate information on various locations and places.  Creative artists have explored their artistic talents in the area of maps and now we can see the portrait, maps, map clothing, and a variety of artwork using the map theme. The person who makes maps is called Cartographer.
