Collector Plates refers to modern plates that were designed as limited editions. They were purchased for decorative purposes and also as investment. Collector Plates gained popularity during the 1970s to 1990s and later the interest declined and prices decreased These type of plates were mainly designed by companies such as Bing and Grondahl, Royal Copenhagen, Royal Doulton, and Wedgwood. Gradually, the prices fell down due to the decline of interest in them. “Behind the Frozen Window” made in 1895 by Bing & Grondahl is the first collectible plate produced.
