Oyster plates were commonly used as dishware for serving dinner. It had the shape of oyster and was popular during 1880’s. In those days, all special dishes were served in such oyster plates. A single plate consists of six oysters. Plates with more number of oysters were also found and they were made by the companies. Shellfish plates, cockle plates and whelk plates are similar types of plates.
