Criticism in art means evaluation of a visual art. Discussions made on various aspects of art can also be regarded as art criticism. "Art criticism" mainly involves the art history. There exists only a thin line that separates the art history and art criticism. The concept of art history was merged into art criticism when art historians started taking interest on evaluating modern art by amalgamating art history. There are two fields of criticism, one is historical criticism and on is contemporary criticism. Art criticism gained importance as a part of art appreciation. However, art criticism is a low risk activity than art making.
