Furniture Definition
The term furniture in the context of antiques refers to the furnishings used in interiors which are of considerable age. The term antique is used for furniture which are at least 100 years old. The major American furniture periods include Chippendale (1750-1780), Federal (1780-1840), Victorian (1840-1900), Art Nouveau (1890-1914) and Arts & Crafts (1910-1925).
