Futurism Definition
Futurism is the modern art movement originated in Italy in 1909. Futurist Manifesto by poet Marinetti is considered to be the starting point of Futurism. The artists of Futurism emphasized vitality, speed, technology and power. Every medium of art such as sculpture, theatre, literature and architecture were used by the artists of Futurism. Boccioni's The City Rises (1910) is an example of Futurism in painting. Trento's railway station is an example of Futurism in architecture.
