Netherlandish Art Definition
‘Netherlandish Art’ refers to a school of art that developed during the Middle Ages in Netherlands. It is the history of visual arts in Netherlands. It commenced after the separation of United Provinces from Flanders. Netherlandish Art was mostly emphasized by Early Netherlandish painting, and Dutch and Flemish Renaissance painting. During the seventeenth century, Dutch Golden Age Painting was regarded as the most reputed painting in the world. This kind of painting was available in various forms such as historical paintings, portraiture, landscapes and cityscapes, still lifes and genre paintings. Jan van Eyck and van der Weyden were two among the famous Netherlandish artists in the middle ages. Netherlandish Art is also referred to as Dutch Art.
