Oil Definition

Oil is a viscous liquid at ambient temperatures .It is also a neutral, nonpolar chemical substance which is immiscible with water but miscible with other oils. It may be taken from petroleum, animal fat, vegetables or plants and may or may not be volatile. Oils are flammable due to the presence of high carbon and hydrogen content in it. It can be used in paints, plastics, perfumes and can be used as fuel, coat, lubricant, cooking oil, and may also be used as purifying agents in religious ceremonies.
