Oil gilding is a process of placing a gold leaf on a non-absorbent surface coated with slow-drying or quick-drying adhesives. These adhesives may be formed from linseed oil mixed with yellow pigment.  It is also known as mordant gilding. It can be applied stone or wood without any initial coating. But it can neither be burnished nor is long-lasting.
