Old master was a skilled and trained painter who made distinguished pictures or sculptures before 1700 in Europe during the Renaissance, mannerist and Baroque periods. They were usually Dutch, Italian and Flemish artists. Today the term is used to refer the skilled masters of eighteenth century.
