Onion Pattern Definition
Onion patterns were copied from pomegranate and peach patterns featured in porcelains by Chinese porcelain painters. It was first produced by Meissen factory in 1740. Onion patterns are widely known as the bulb patterns. When a white porcelain ware is decorated with cobalt blue or pink colour it is called the onion pattern. These designs had floral themes and were made attractive with peonies and asters at the middle of the pattern.
