Paisley is a design or pattern of curved or feather shaped figures found in fabrics. The design was based on Indian motifs, a pine-cone design. The buteh or buta design was used in India right from the 16th century. This designed is named after Paisley, a town in Scotland. These designs were popularly used during the eighteenth and nineteenth century in the Western countries.the design is still in demand and in used in textiles.
