Portico is an Italian word that refers to the place of entrance of a building. It is an extended area at the front of a building which is roofed and is enclosed by walls. Ancient Greek structures had such portico area and are considered as a part of Neolithic and classical style of architecture. Porticos are also constructed narrowly like the opening of a door and may be as tall as a two storied building.
