Pre Columbian Definition
Pre-Columbian art are those visual arts that prevailed in America during 15th and 16th century which was followed by the indigenous people of Caribbean, North, Central, and South America. Christopher Columbus discovered America during this period. Therefore, the art forms that existed in America before Christopher Columbus’ arrival got marked as the Pre-Colombian art. Pre-Columbian cultures in America did not have any writing system. The visual art that existed during this period was a combination of world views, philosophy, religion and cosmology.
