Creative self-expression means assertion of one's own creativity in the form of art, music, poetry, painting or anything similar. It means an expression of oneself whether it be their ideas, feelings, or personality through creative art forms. Art was used for self-expression, as a part of exploring art materials and methods. This was a part of art education. But, during 1940s to 1980s, until discipline based art education was formed, creative self-expression dominated in the art education field.
