Precursor Definition
The term precursor means something that comes earlier before the existence of another of the same kind. It can be also used to refer to a previous or former version of the same kind. The term precursor is used in art to represent an artwork or an art that turned out to be the prior or past versions of an already established artistic performance or work. For instance, the Romantic works of James M.W.Turner were found to be the previous versions of Impressionism and Expressionism.
