Quatrocento Definition
The term Quatrocento is an Italian word which literally means "four hundred". It refers to the 1400s Christian Era - the fifteenth century. Additionally, it is often used to refer to Italian art of the late Middle Ages and the early Renaissance. Few examples of Italian art of this period are: Fra Filippo Lippi (Italian, Florentine, c. 1406-1469), Portrait of a Man and Woman at a Casement; Sandro Botticelli (Alessandro di Mariano Filipepi) (Italian, Florentine, 1444/45-1510), Allegory of Spring (La Primavera).
