Circular Stage Definition

Circular stage is a sub stage of the Scribble stage of artistic development as categorized by Dr. Viktor Lowenfeld in his book “Creative and Mental Growth” published in 1947. His book was widely followed by educators of art. According to him, there are six stages of artistic development. The first stage is the Scribble stage which is sub divided into 4 sub-stages. The first substage is the disordered stage, and then comes the longitudinal stage followed by circular and naming stage.  The circular stage demonstrates the ability of children to do more complex forms at the scribble stage.
