Currier and Ives was an American firm headed by Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives based in New York. It was a printmaking firm and produced black and white prints of coloured paintings. These lithographic prints could be produced quickly and cheaply. These prints had a mark that included the street address in New York and the date of original issue.
