Indian Yellow refers to transparent orange-yellow pigment that was used by artists in oil paintings and watercolours. Indian Yellow colour appeared bright in sunlight on account of its fluorescence. Dutch artists are said to be the first to use this colour in their art works. Traditionally, this pigment was made in rural India from urine of cows that were exclusively fed on mango leaves and water.
