Prints And Printmaking Definition
The term print means a mark that is produced by an object covered with ink. In this technique, the mark is produced by applying coloured substance which is liquid in form called ink on a block that looks similar to a plate and by allowing it to get pressed onto a piece of paper or textile. As a result the surface will have the same image as that of the one engraved in the block and these images can be obtained in different colours by using various colours of inks. The process of printing can be repeated how much ever time as wanted. The block can be dipped in ink and then be pressed on to the surface in order to repeat the designs. For this the block that is used for pressing need to be engraved with designs as desired.
