Paden City Definition

Paden City, in the context of antiques, may refer to Paden City Glass Manufacturing Company, a West Virginia based glass manufacturing company established at Paden City in 1916. The company was known for the different colored glasses that it made.  The company made glasses in colors such as black, white, transparent pink, light green, forest green, ruby, amber, meraldglo, mulberry; and yellow. The most famous colors were cheri-glo or pink and ruby. Peacock, black forest, and wild rose were the patterns that were commonly seen. The company remained in the industry for 35 years, and was closed in 1951.
In addition, there is a pottery company, ‘The Paden City Pottery Company.’ The term ‘Paden City’ is seen used to refer to the potteries that the company produced. The Paden City pottery Company was founded in 1914 Paden City, West Virginia. The company made dinnerware and baking ware. The products are well known and attracted for the Caliente glaze and style.  The company discontinued its operation in 1963.
