Pencil sharpener is an instrument used to sharp the nib of a pencil. Earlier only knife was used to sharp pencil and later people started using blade to sharpen it.  The nib of the pencil is usually made from graphite and consists if lead. The outer part of a pencil which is covered with wood helps in holding the pencil with grip to get it sharpened. Handy sharpeners are available in different shapes, colours and sizes which has knife like plate fixed inside the sharpener. The hole at one side of the sharpener makes it easy to turn the pencil in circular motion to get it sharpened.
